The Studio
Amelia is a garden and landscape designer working across private, public, and commercial landscapes, with a practice grounded in horticultural expertise and thoughtful artisanal design.
Amelia trained in garden design at the English Gardening School, before completing a Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture at the University of East London. Her academic background also includes an undergraduate degree in French and Italian from the University of Bristol, a foundation that continues to inform her sensitivity to context and narrative in design.
The studio works on a wide range of projects, from large residential gardens and roof terraces to public realm schemes and complex urban spaces. Each project is approached individually, shaped by its surroundings, function, and the people who will inhabit it.
Alongside her design practice, Amelia was a guest presenter on the BBC’s Garden Rescue.
Show Gardens & Public Work
Amelia has designed and delivered multiple award-winning show gardens.
Her recent garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, created with Emilie Bausager through their joint practice Bausager & Bouquet in support of Energy Garden, highlighted the potential of green infrastructure on overground rail platforms. The garden was awarded a Silver-Gilt Medal and was installed in its permanent setting at Latimer Road Station.
In 2021, Amelia designed The Communication Garden for Hampton Court Palace Flower Show in support of Mental Health UK. The garden received a Silver Medal and Best Construction Award, alongside extensive media coverage, including features on the BBC and BBC Radio 4.
Design Ethos
Amelia has a long-standing fascination with horticulture, particularly the role plants play in shaping atmosphere, longevity, and meaning within a landscape. She places strong emphasis on planting design, believing that a garden is only as successful as its planting, carefully balanced with well-considered hard landscaping.
Her ethos rejects a ‘one size fits all’ approach. Instead, each project is informed by its site, context, and client, resulting in landscapes that feel authentic, personal, and deeply connected to their setting. Every garden should be a visual and tangible expression of the people it is created for.
